“I USED TO SELL EMPANADAS ON THE STREET. NOW I DRIVE A BMW X6”: THE STORY OF AN ARGENTINE MAN WHO WENT FROM NOTHING TO SUCCESS

Published by Buenos Aires Newsroom, August 3
Not long ago, 27-year-old Alejandro García was washing cars in a supermarket parking lot and selling empanadas from a cart to support his mother and younger sisters. Today, he earns more than a bank executive, drives a BMW X6, and is helping his family build a new house in Córdoba Province.
“This isn’t a fairy tale or a scam. I wouldn’t have believed it myself if it hadn’t happened to me,” says Alejandro, sitting at a café in Palermo, wearing Jordans and a TAG Heuer watch.

Before the money: “We lived off rice and beans — and we didn’t always have enough”

Alejandro grew up in a poor neighborhood in Villa Lugano, where water was rationed and jobs went to people with the right connections. His father left when Alejandro was 12. His mother worked as a maid until she got seriously ill. To pay for her medication and support his sisters’ education, Alejandro dropped out of school and began washing cars. Later, he rented a cart and sold empanadas on the corner.

“I remember one guy paid me 100 pesos for an empanada and said, ‘You’ll never get anywhere, kid. Use your hands — thinking’s not your thing.’ I wanted to hit him, but I just smiled.”

Every peso went to his family. Alejandro had no diploma, no contacts — and no hope.

The turning point: “I heard my neighbor bought a MacBook using money he made on his phone”

One day, a former security guard in the neighborhood showed Alejandro the some trading app. Alejandro was skeptical: “I thought, yeah right — another scam. But he actually had a brand new MacBook. And I knew he wasn’t a thief. So I decided to check it out.”

He signed up. His account came with $10,000 in demo funds. He spent the whole night watching tutorials, copying every step. “I didn’t put in all my money. I just deposited $11 — it was all I had left after buying meat and dough for the empanadas. My mom didn’t even know.”

The breakthrough: “I made $72 in one night — more than I earned in a whole week!”

Alejandro’s first few trades were successful. Then some didn’t work out. But he didn’t give up. He studied, read forums, and learned when and how to trade smarter. After a week, he had over $300. After a month — more than $4,000. Within two months, he quit his parking job and sold his empanada cart.

“At first, my mom thought I was doing something illegal. I showed her the app and explained everything — now she sometimes trades too!”

Now: “I don’t have a degree, but I earn more than lawyers”

Alejandro now lives in his own apartment, sends money to his family in Córdoba every month, and dreams of opening a financial literacy school for underprivileged teens.

“I haven’t changed who I am. I just found a way out. And that way was in my phone.”

Want to do what Alejandro did?

Here’s what he recommends for anyone struggling, just like he was:

1) Sign up on Binomo — it’s free. Click here to create an account. It only takes a minute.
2) Watch the tutorials — they’re in Spanish. Easy to follow, even if you never went to university.
3) Practice on the demo account and learn by doing. Explore how trading works — no risk, just real experience.
4) Deposit from $10 and choose an asset. Start small, pick an asset, and get ready to trade
5) Decide: will the price go up or down? Use indicators to trade smarter. Build your strategy, use the tools — and make well-weighted moves.
6) Be patient and consistent. “I was scared at first too. Now I wake up with a smile,” says Alejandro.
“If I — a kid from a poor neighborhood — could turn my life around, so can you. Just try. Just start.”. Binomo gave Alejandro a chance. Now it’s your turn.
